A fight between pupils from different schools in Bexley was prevented yesterday evening after police gathered ahead of time.

Haberdashers' Aske's Crayford Academy (HACA) sent an "urgent message" to parents yesterday (February 8) advising students to avoid Bexleyheath town centre.

The message read: "We have just received intelligence from Bexley Education Improvement Services advising of a possible altercation between pupils from other schools at 4pm today in Bexleyheath town centre."

Police were made aware of the possible scrap, which is believed to have been arranged on social media.

A spokesman told News Shopper: "Police were made aware from local schools that they believed a number of students would be heading to the Bexleyheath area after school yesterday and a fight had been mentioned.

"Officers from the emergency response team, Safer Neighbourhoods and schools officers attended the areas mentioned, however no such fights took place."

He added the police wanted to thank each school which co-operated by passing along the details.
