TWO accidents in the Dartford Tunnel have caused long delays on the M25 tonight.

Thames-side firefighters said they cut a 45-year-old woman out of a car after two vehicles collided in the tunnel at 2.55pm today.

Shortly after this accident, there was another crash on the other carriageway of tunnel, just after the exit.

It is not known if anyone was injured in this collision.

The 45-year-old was taken to Darent Valley Hospital.

Crews from Thames-side and Dartford attended the accident in the tunnel.

It is believed a crew from Swanscombe attended the second accident.

One tunnel is closed while the emergency services work at the scene.

The other re-opened at 4.20pm this afternoon after initially being closed.

Traffic chaos during rush hour

Motorists faced an extra 150 minutes on their journey during rush hour tonight.

The affected stretch of road, at about 5pm, was between junction five and junction 31 on the Dartford Crossing Essex-bound.

There are currently delays of 15 minutes between junction 28 and junction 30 Kent-bound, which are expected to last until 8.45pm.
