Plans to demolish a car dealership in Bexleyheath town centre and replace it with flats have taken a step forward.

Proposals to replace the former Automatic Cars Limited dealership in Watling Street and replace it with a three and four-storey block of 16 flats were approved in 2016.

The new homes will be made up of four one-bed and 12 two-bedroom flats.

The plans include 16 parking spaces.

Now, details for its demolition have been submitted, setting out the hours of work for the development as 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

If approved, hoardings will be erected along Watling Street whilst the works are carried out.

This comes after the Mayor of London published his plans for Bexley which would have the borough's housing targets rocket, upwards.

There will be a public meeting on the Mayor's draft plans, which would increase the housing targets by nearly five times from 446 to 2,145 a year.

The plan would also increase the amount of housing coming from small sites, mainly in Bexley’s residential areas around stations and town centres, eight-fold from around 110 units a year to 856 a year.

The public meeting on the Mayor's newest housing targets will be on Thursday, February 1 and places can be booked here.
