Free advice, dog poo bags and microchipping will all be on offer at a roadshow in Swanley urging pet owners to be responsible.

West Kent housing association, which is running the event, held a number of roadshows before microchipping became law in 2016.

The roadshow ended after that milestone, but since then there has been a rise in complaints about animal nuisance.

West Kent’s community safety officer, Mandie Stallard, said: “The roadshows obviously did a good job, because as soon as we stopped we noticed the number of problems starting to creep up again.”

Mandie has joined forces with Sevenoaks District Council to talk to people about being good pet owners, as well as handing out poo bags and microchipping dogs for free, courtesy of Dogs Trust.

Mandie said: “While the focus will be on dog health and well-being, we will also be happy to talk to tenants about other more general issues.”

The roadshow will stop off in Swanley at St Mary’s Church from 10am to 1pm on Friday, January 26.
