Labour Councillor Esther Amaning has resigned from her position at Bexley Council.
Ms Amaning has represented Lesnes Abbey Ward since the council elections in May 2014 and has been acting as opposition spokesman for traffic and transport.
The council announced a by-election would not take place as the council elections will take place this May 3.
Residents in Lesnes Abbey Ward will continue to be represented by Cllr Danny Hackett and Cllr John Husband.
