It’s said that the camera never lies and that a picture tells a thousand words.

But sometimes the camera doesn’t always tell the truth and sometimes those thousand words can be a bit jumbled up.

Members of News Shopper’s camera club have been taking photos that will make you go ‘hmm'.

We asked for pictures of people, animals or objects in unexpected places, things that don’t appear quite as they should, tricks of the eye, and generally weird and wonderful sights that they’ve snapped.

News Shopper:

Once you’ve finished hmming at the photos why not jump over to Facebook and get involved in our camera club yourself.

The club is for people looking to get their photos published online and in print.

Now with more than 400 members, the club invites people to share their best photos from around SE London and north Kent, as well as talk to fellow photographers, join in projects and enter competitions.

Once accepted in the News Shopper Camera Club, you’ll be able to add your pictures to the group, join in the conversation and contests and also possibly have some of your photos used here in the newspaper or on our website.

Our January competition is on the topic of ‘photos you wouldn’t believe were taken in SE London and north Kent’, while we’re also looking for pictures of eye-catching street art around the area.
