It’s nearly time to make that journey home for Christmas but when are the trains running over the festive season?

This Christmas there are lots of engineering works taking place across the network so here is a run down of the TfL services affected.

This year, TfL will be providing free travel for everyone this New Year’s Eve so that millions of party goers can get home safely.

There will be no National Rail services to Heathrow airport from Sunday 24 to Wednesday 27 December 2017.

December 23

There will be no Northern line Charing Cross branch trains between Charing Cross and Stockwell between midnight and 2am (Friday into Saturday night).

TfL rail will be closed completely with replacement buses. This line will be closed until January 1.

On London Overground there will be no services on the following routes:

Highbury & Islington to Dalston Junction

Camden Road to Stratford

Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction/Crystal Palace/West Croydon until 09:45.

December 24

Tube: Normal Sunday service with less frequent services from 20:00

District line closed between South Kensington and Edgware Road/Ealing Broadway/Richmond/Wimbledon/Kensington (Olympia).

Piccadilly line trains will also call at District line stations between Acton Town and Hammersmith

London Overground: Early finish (from 21:30), no service on the following routes:

Highbury & Islington to Dalston Junction

Camden Road to Stratford

Christmas Day

Unless Santa himself takes the time to shuttle bus you around there are no services on any TfL platform all day.

Boxing Day

There will be a Sunday service on the Tube. The Waterloo and City line is closed as is, the Circle Line between Aldgate and Edgware Road via Victoria.

The District line is closed between South Kensington and Edgware Road/Ealing Broadway/Richmond/Wimbledon/Kensington Olympia. Piccadilly line trains will call at District line stations between Acton Town and Hammersmith.Rail replacement buses will run.

There will be no London Overground services.

December 27

Circle line: Closed between Aldgate and Edgware Road via Victoria.

District line: The line is closed between South Kensington and Edgware Road/Ealing Broadway/Richmond/Wimbledon/Kensington Olympia.

London Overground: There will be no service between Highbury and Islington to Dalston Junction; Camden Road to Stratford; Romford to Upminster; Gospel Oak to Barking; Edmonton Green to Cheshunt.

December 28

There will be a Saturday service on the Tube except for the Waterloo and City line which will have a weekday service.

Circle line: Closed between Aldgate and Edgware Road via Victoria.

District line: The line is closed between South Kensington and Edgware Road/Ealing Broadway/Richmond/Wimbledon/Kensington Olympia. Piccadilly line trains will call at District line stations between Acton Town and Hammersmith. Rail replacement buses will run.

London Overground: There will be no service between Highbury and Islington to Dalston Junction; Camden Road to Stratford; Romford to Upminster; Gospel Oak to Barking; Edmonton Green to Cheshunt.

DLR: A weekend service with a train every three to 10 minutes.

December 29

There will be a Saturday service on the Tube except for the Waterloo and City line which will have a weekday service.

Circle line: Closed between Aldgate and Edgware Road via Victoria.

District line: The line is closed between South Kensington and Edgware Road/Ealing Broadway/Richmond/Wimbledon/Kensington Olympia. Piccadilly line trains will call at District line stations between Acton Town and Hammersmith. Rail replacement buses will run.

London Overground: There will be no service between Highbury and Islington to Dalston Junction; Camden Road to Stratford; Romford to Upminster; Gospel Oak to Barking; Edmonton Green to Cheshunt.

December 30

Circle line: Closed between Aldgate and Edgware Road via Victoria.

District line: The line is closed between South Kensington and Edgware Road/Ealing Broadway/Richmond/Wimbledon/Kensington Olympia. Piccadilly line trains will call at District line stations between Acton Town and Hammersmith. Rail replacement buses will run.

London Overground: There will be no service between Highbury and Islington to Dalston Junction; Camden Road to Stratford; Romford to Upminster; Gospel Oak to Barking; Edmonton Green to Cheshunt.

DLR: A normal Saturday service.

New Year’s Eve

Travel is free between 11.45pm and 4.30am on New Year’s Day.

There will be a normal Sunday service on the Tube, although TfL is warning that some stations will be busier than normal.

London Overground: Some services will run throughout the night.

DLR: Trains will run throughout the night.

TfL rail: No service on the entire line but there will be replacement buses at all stations except Liverpool Street and Maryland.

New Year’s Day

There will be a reduced service on the Tube from 4.30am and then a Saturday service from 11am.

Northern line: There will be no service between Charing Cross and Kennington from 6am.

DLR: Overnight service until 10am and then a weekend service.
