Tributes have been paid for a newsagent in Penge that is set to close this Saturday (December 14)/

Jack's Quick Stop Shop in Station Road has been owned by the Patel family for nearly thirty years.

It is run by Vishal Patel who took over the business in 2011.

In a statement on Facebook the Mr Patel said: “We would like to thank you all for your custom and support over the past 30 years, it’s been an amazing journey.

“We have made lots of good memories and amazing friends. Stay in touch, wishing you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year.”

Residents were saddened by the news of the closure. Mr Patel’s post on Facebook was liked 46 times and received 28 comments.

Paula Felby Jenkins said: “Sorry to see you go I wish you all the best for the future you were an asset to the community.”

Tiggy Sawbridge said: “This is the worst news EVER!!! You'll be greatly missed. Thank you for all your kindness over the years and all good wishes to you and your family for the future.”
