A Dartford man has been arrested after an alleged stolen Land Rover he was in reportedly crashed into a Kent Police car on Monday night before speeding off.

The Land Rover Defender, reported to have been stolen from Hook in Hampshire, failed to stop for officers in Surrey Road at around 9.45pm on December 11.

The vehicle is said to have then reversed into their police car and drove away at speed before crashing into a parked car in Rutland Way and coming to a halt.

The occupants fled the scene on foot but officers then followed wet footprints to an address in Oxford Road where they arrested a 26-year-old man from Dartford on suspicion of theft, dangerous driving, handling stolen goods and possession of cannabis.

Officers also arrested a 47-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman from Dunstable, a 22-year-old man and 25-year-old woman from Maidstone on suspicion of handling stolen property.

All five remain in police custody while the investigation is ongoing.
