YOUNGSTERS felt the long arm arm of the law when they were fingerprinted at their school fete.

However, the pupils had committed no crime.

North Kent Police officers took an old-fashioned fingerprinting kit to Darenth Community Primary School's summer fete in Green Street Green Road, Darenth, to demonstrate how it works to the children.

Pupils got a taster of what it is like to get their prints taken by Darenth PCSO Ben Chattenton.

PCSO Chattenton said: "They had great fun having their prints taken but it gave me the chance to get across a much more important message to encourage them to stay safe and out of trouble during the school break."

Neighbourhood policing teams in north Kent are supporting Kent Police's Safer Summer Campaign, which urges young people to play safe and stay out of trouble.
