A NEW affordable housing development has been completed to ensure families can remain living in Gravesend.
The Lawrence Square development, off New House Lane, has six three-bedroom flats and 12 two-bed flats.
A further two bungalows for disabled tenants will be ready in mid-August.
The housing was built in line with Gravesham Council's Affordable Housing policy, which ensures residents can remain in the borough as the cost of housing nationally rises.
Existing shops, including a newsagent, mini-market, hairdresser and cafe, will provide a hub for the new houses, says the council.
The construction programme, completed earlier this month, has been designed to shut out anti-social behaviour by being built without any cut-throughs and being well-lit.
All the houses have been allocated to thise in housing need from the council's waiting list.
