A group of pub goers from Chelsfield are trying to get a song they recorded at Abbey Road studios to number one this Christmas.

The epic song, titled ‘Village Christmas’, features 58 people from in and around the village.

The group, known as the Belldrinkers, also released a music video, which centres around the Five Bells pub in Church Road.

The song’s lyrics are a humorous take on international politics, fraught diplomatic relations and the joys of a ‘village Christmas.’

Lyrics include: “Down in North Kore, Kim's had such a great idea, why not push us to the brink of nuclear war?

“It's hard to get too worked up over someone with that haircut, but don't forget the last one we ignored.

“In Chelsfield we really don't care, the season of good will is here, and there is nothing like a village Christmas.”

It was written by Lester Barnes and Dave Griffiths and was mixed in Abbey Road studios, the recording studio made famous by the Beatles.

The Belldrinkers hope to get the song to the top of the charts.

But they are going up against some stiff competition. Paddy Power has Ed Sheeran and Beyonce as most likely to bag the top spot. Next is Wham and in third place X Factor winners Rak-Su.

It isn’t the first time they have tried. Last year they recorded a single called ‘Just Another Christmas Song’ which featured on BBC program The One Show.

The song can be bought on iTunes here.

It can also be downloaded and streamed from Amazon, and Spotify.
