YEAR 6 pupils preparing to leave their school have left a record of their daily routine in the form of a mosaic.

It was made by 173 pupils at Crofton Junior School, Town Court Lane, Orpington, and unveiled at a leavers' assembly on July 17.

Christian organisation the Spinnaker Trust worked with the youngsters over a four-week period to make the mosaic.

It depicts children's lives, including learning, playing and travelling to school.

Senior assistant headteacher Sarah Branwood said: "The mosaic project was fantastic, as the children were able to create something which represents their time spent at Crofton Junior School."

Jackie Mitchell, the 59-year-old headteacher of nearby Crofton Infant School who is retiring after 14 years there, unveiled the mosaic.

At the assembly, 11-year-old Tom Bennet was awarded the Petts Wood Cup - donated by the Petts Wood Residents' Association - for his outstanding contribution to school life during his time as a pupil.
