Just because something looks pretty doesn’t mean it can’t be dangerous.
This can be true of Christmas decorations, especially lights which pose a serious fire risk if they are faulty or overheat.
London Fire Brigade has released a terrifying video showing just how quickly a Christmas tree can go up in flames and the devastation this can cause.
The brigade is urging you to check your Christmas lights are in good condition and to turn them off before you go to bed.
Keeping your tree well watered can also prevent fire from taking hold.
Also, make sure you have working smoke alarms.
Intense heat and tinsel are a lethal mix that could ruin more than just Christmas so make sure if you are lighting any candles they are safely contained.
Have a look at the video to see the speed at which a Christmas tree can be destroyed and a room set on fire due to a broken light.
