An Orpington teenager has been jailed for breaking another teenager’s nose in an unprovoked attack.

Paul Ojo, 19, of Barnfield Road, punched the 16 year-old victim twice from behind in Upbury Way, Chatham in April this year.

The victim was alone at the time and suffered a broken nose and facial injuries.

The vicious attack was caught on CCTV and officers from the Medway CID released a photo of Ojo who was then identified by the Met.

Ojo was arrested and charged with causing actual bodily harm. He pleaded guilty to the offence at Maidstone Crown Court and was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

Investigating officer detective constable Mark Donovan said: “This was an unprovoked and cowardly attack on an innocent young man.

“The victim was walking through Chatham, when a group of men, including Ojo, began shouting at him.

“While the victim was trying to calm the situation, Ojo, bolstered by the presence of his friends, assaulted him from behind.

“No person should suffer this treatment and I hope Ojo reflects on his actions and improves his behaviour while behind bars.”
