A BBC TV presenter visited excited nursery school pupils to tell them a special story about the environment.

Joanna Adeyinka-Burford, who presents the Let’s Go Club on CBeebies, read two stories to the morning nursery class at Peareswood Primary School in Erith last week.

The kids won the treat through the Green Footsteps walk-to-school scheme, which encourages children to come to school using eco-friendly transport through competitions and rewards.

They were crowned the best in Bexley after every single one of them walked, cycled or scooted to the school in Peareswood Road on Wednesday, October 18.

Joanna, who has also appeared in Doctors and Little Britain, said: “It’s been so good to be here at Peareswood School today. The nursery class have been fantastic – walking, scooting, cycling and getting involved in the green travel campaign.

“If you do the same thing, I could be coming to your school next time!"

Simon Dolby, the chief executive of children’s charity School Inspirational Services, which runs Green Footsteps, said: “Another big part of our work is our literacy scheme, Reading Bug, in which we often have celebrity storytime as a prize – and the kids love it so much that it made sense to extend it to Green Footsteps."
