You will have the chance to see the plans for the upcoming £31m Woolwich Creative District at the Christmas festival this December.

A public consultation will be held on December 2 on the Royal Arsenal site at the same time as the Woolwich Winter Warmer event for Christmas.

People will be able to drop in to the informal consultation and have a look at the plans which will turn the old armament factories into a home for the creative arts.

These include 4,000 seater performance theatre for orchestras, a 450-seat black box theatre, and a 600-seat outdoor performance area.

They also include studios for rehearsals and artists as well as office space to support the creative industries around there.

The consultation will be in Building 41 from noon until 4pm and members of the project team will be on hand to give further information and answer any specific questions people may have.

The Woolwich Creative District will launch in 2019 and the council has said a number of international arts and performance companies have contacted them about making their home in Woolwich in anticipation.

Denise Hyland, leader of Greenwich Council, said: “The buildings for the Woolwich Creative District are truly unique and wonderfully positioned on the Thames riverside.

“The historic Royal Arsenal site is a major asset to the Royal Borough and locating our new development here will drive forward the continual revival of Woolwich and the surrounding area.

"Importantly the development will attract inward investment and create around 400 jobs.

“It is a fantastic development which will bring internationally acclaimed artists to the doorsteps of Woolwich residents and attract visitors from far and wide to enjoy the many assets of the town.”
