A ‘good’ primary school in St Mary Cray is celebrating its third anniversary.
St Mary Cray Primary School, in the High Street has been judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in two out of five areas.
MP for Orpington Jo Johnson, along with parents and councillors attended an event last Friday at the Oasis Community Hub to celebrate the school’s third year of being an academy.
Head Teacher Adam Lowing said: “It was fantastic to have hundreds of people having a great time whilst recognising the achievements of children and staff.
“It shows how many different groups and individuals support our school.”
Councillor for Cray Valley East Chris Pierce said: “It was a genuine pleasure to share in the third anniversary of the academy, its journey and the highly impressive Ofsted judgement.
“There was a real buzz and pride about the event, reaffirming the academy at the heart of the local community and how well it is regarded.
“I look forward to continuing to support its 'outstanding' journey".
Rev Jane Winter said: “It was wonderful to see Oasis packed.
“The celebration shows how powerful it is bringing different facets of community life together sharing a passion.
“St Mary Cray Primary is demonstrating what true education is about, developing both the ability to learn through every experience and the potential in every person to be the best they can be for the benefit of all.”
