Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has broken his silence on his failed move to Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day.

The Turkish giants rejected a late bid from the Eagles for the prolific forward, who has scored 11 goals this season.

And Tosun is relieved that the move fell through.

He said: “About my transfer to Crystal Palace, I can say that I’m very happy the move failed.

“I get to stay at the club and I am doing very well at the moment in both the league and Champions League.”

Palace have been playing without a recognised striker since Christian Benteke suffered a serious knee injury in September.

The former Liverpool man is expected to return to full training after the international break.

But with Connor Wickham still injured, Benteke needs competition which Tosun would bring.

Despite their failed approach in the summer, Palace have sent scouts to watch Tosun this season.

And could return with another bid for the Turkey international in January.
