The McDonald's in Woolwich has shot into the future as it received a massive makeover with new technology.

The fast food outlet on Pettman Crescent's new digital innovations will also help bring in 60 new jobs to the area.

Six self-order kiosks have been introduced at the restaurant as well as table service so you don’t have to bring the food to the table yourself when your hands are full of shopping.

Local franchisee Taimoor Sheikh owns and operates five restaurants across Woolwich and Thamesmead.

He said: “It’s been great to see such a positive response to the changes from staff and customers alike in both restaurants.

“These changes are designed to make our customers’ experience as positive as possible- providing people with a chance to get to grips with using digital kiosk in a relaxed environment for a quick and easy way of ordering food and even having it served to their table.”

The first McDonald's in the UK was opened in Woolwich in 1974 in Powis St and is still there today.
