An appeal has been launched after thieves stole beehives from allotments in Barnehurst.

Police were called on Thursday, October 26 to reports of the theft as well as criminal damage at the allotments in Old Manor Way.

A social media appeal has been launched to track down the missing bees on behalf their owner.

One Facebook post stated: "He is passionate about beekeeping and has visited Nepal several times to help the Nepalese with their beekeeping problems.

"It’s very sad that someone who clearly has no morals has stolen his bees and has also caused significant damage in the process."

A woman, in her 70s, reported that the lock and gate to the allotments had been damaged, and also beehives had also been stolen.

Information can be reported to the Dartford Beekeepers Association, and police are also appealing for information.

A spokesman for the Met said: "The theft is said to have taken place between Friday, October 13 October and Thursday, October 26.

"No arrests have been made.

"Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC."
