Detectives are appealing for information after police officers were “slashed” following reports of a fight outside a pub on Plumstead High Street yesterday.

Police were called at 2.15pm on October 31 to reports of a fight between three men outside the Volunteer pub.

Officers attended and arrested two men on suspicion of causing GBH with intent.

They were taken to a south police station where they currently remain.

One suspect remains outstanding.

A witness told News Shopper that a group of men were brawling outside the Volunteer Pub.

She said: “They were fighting and police were called. I think a police car was driving past so the coppers turned up quick and the group threw a bottle towards them.

“Two officers have been slashed. It was a bit scary but it's what goes on round here.

“There was 30 coppers here at one point, and the road has been shut off for hours now.”

Three officers sustained superficial cuts during the incident.

Detective Superintendent Lee Hill, said: “Detectives are now investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident and enquiries are underway to identify and locate the third suspect.

“My officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or can assist by providing footage or images that may have been captured at the scene.”
