Campaigners plan to deliver a cake to an airport while making loud airplane noises to protest increased flight paths.

The birthday cake will be delivered to London City Airport by protestors against the increasing number of flights coming into the airport.

The HACAN East group will dress up as bakers and make the short walk from the airport to Aviation House to the sound of aircraft noise.

The cake is for the airport’s 30th birthday and will be presented to senior managers at the airport’s headquarters on October 26.

John Stewart, the chair of HACAN East, said, “This is a fun event with a serious message. We recognise that the airport has brought jobs to the area but it has also caused noise and air pollution problems.

“As it goes into its next decade, we are looking for London City to submit no further expansion plans and to sort out its flight paths to get rid of the noise ghettos its concentrated flight paths have created.”
