For centuries beasts have been said to roam the wild places of the UK.

From giant cats in medieval Welsh poems to a very real Lynx killing sheep in Norfolk in 1991, stories of big cats haunt Britain.

Now, Chislehurst might have its very own phantom cat.

A dog walker, who does not want to be named, was taking a stroll with his wife when he saw something strange crossing a meadow on the Hawkswood estate behind Coopers School.

He said: “We were walking the dog down the bridleway and my wife said, ‘oh my God what is that.’

“At first I thought it was a fox but then I looked closer and thought ‘what the bloody hell is it?’ It looked much bigger than a fox, about the size of an lnyx.

“The way it moved through the bushes was really strange. We were about two hundred meters away and it looked really big.

“I’ve never believed in the Beast of Bodmin or anything like that but I’m eighty to ninety per cent sure it was a big cat.

“I think somebody should have a look into it. I just thought ‘how the hell did that thing get into this country?’ If it is a pet, then it has been let lose, if it is something else then I don’t know what it could be.”

The dog walker took a video of the beast on his phone, so you can have a look too. What do you think? Leave a comment below.
