Three men have been charged following an illegal rave in a Swanley warehouse that caused an estimated £30,000 worth of damage.

Up to 500 people are reported to have broken into the new unit in Mark Way at about midnight on August 6 where an illegal rave had been organised.

Police arrested 12 people at the scene and seized music equipment.

Superintendent Amanda Tillotson said: "It is estimated that as a result of the large crowds attending this unlicensed music event more than £30,000 worth of damage was caused to a brand new warehouse, which is simply unacceptable.

"Many who travel into the area, do so from outside the county by using trains. These gatherings can cause a number of issues, including damage to property, noise to local residents and antisocial behaviour. The nature of the venues can also pose real safety issues for those attending."

Three men have been charged with conspiracy to create a public nuisance.

They are Germantas Citavicius, 19, of Hawthorn Avenue, of Thornton Heath; Tomas Rudzevicius, 20, of Dagenham, and Lee Johnston, 29, Tring in Hertfordshire.

All three have been bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on November 17.
