Police are re-appealing for information about the final moments of a talented young footballer who was stabbed to death in the street.

Police say Daniel Namanga, 19, from Wimbledon, was stabbed in the chest in a late night attack near New Cross, in Lewisham, on August 8 this year.

Nine arrests have been made in connection with the investigation and one 22-year-old man from Croydon has been charged with murder.

But police are continuing investigations into the incident, on Old Kent Road at the junction with Ilderton, to which they were called at around 2am.

Detective Inspector Domenica Catino of the Met's homicide and major crime unit, said: "I would ask anyone who has information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to speak to my officers or call police - this could prove of vital assistance to the investigation."

Daniel was found with a single stab wound in his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Daniel went to Rutlish School in Wimbledon and was a former youth player for Kingstonian FC.

Two men aged 21 and 19 were arrested and bailed to a date in early November, while a 31-year-old man was released under further investigation, and three men and two women were released with no further action.
