The keys to the iconic O2 Arena have been placed in the trustworthy hands of a London comedian.

Mickey Flanagan was presented with the keys after reaching the milestone of 21 performances at The O2.

Now he said he plans to use his newfound power to slide down the roof of the arena in the rain.

The Londoner first performed at the arena in 2011 during Channel 4’s Comedy Gala, returned in 2012, 2013 and in 2017 toured for another 12 nights.

The key, designed and presented by The O2 team, was finished in gold and mounted on a velvet backing, mirroring Micky’s classic stage design.

Upon receiving the key to The O2, Micky Flanagan said: "Does this mean I can now fulfil my lifetime ambition of sliding down the roof of The O2 on a rainy day?

“Ideally naked but could put on my trusty thong to avoid wedgie if legally required."
