Bromley is the second happiest borough in London, according to a new survey.

And not only that, but it's the 13th happiest borough nationwide.

The question is, why are Bromley residents so happy? News Shopper has drawn up a top ten list of the things that keep us all smiling.

And here they are...in no particular order:

The Glades Shopping centre is a great place to go shopping. But as well as being sheer consumer bliss, it stages all sorts of events to support good causes. For example it is supporting the British Legion with a poppy appeal this month.

David Bowie grew up here:

News Shopper:

Biggin Hill Airport:

News Shopper:

Biggin Hill will be forever remembered for the part it played in the Battle of Britain. The airfield was one of the commanding bases for the battle. The squadrons based at Biggin Hill are said to have destroyed 1,400 enemy aircraft, but sadly that cost of the lives of 453 Biggin Hill based aircrew.

Chislehurst Commons:

News Shopper:

The commons are a symbol of resistance against ‘the man.’ For hundreds of years residents have protected their ‘right to roam’ on the land, even though it was privately owned.

This year it was bought off a Russian princess and now it is finally in the hands of the people.
