The best and worst secondary schools for pupil progression in Dartford, according to this year's results, have been revealed.

The Government has published provisional key stage four results which show how each school in the country performed in terms of GCSE and English Baccalaureate exams.

At the same time, the schools have been categorised by their Progress 8 score, which measures results in up to eight qualifications, including English, maths, three sciences, computer science, history, geography and languages, and three other qualifications.

Schools are then given a score above or below zero - scores above zero meaning pupils made more progress, on average, than pupils across England who got similar results at the end of primary school (key stage 2). Scores below zero mean schools made less progress.

Dartford Grammar School was the highest achieving school in Dartford.

Barry Stephenson, deputy headteacher said: “Dartford Grammar School offers outstanding levels of pastoral care for every student and this is significant when making every student feel safe in a community that thrives on the notion that students enjoy doing well.

“GCSE exam success is also enhanced because our students are motivated to succeed and progress into the Sixth Form to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, which is an internationally recognised world class qualification that prepares students for the global challenges that the future holds.”

The school achieved a provisional Progress 8 score of +0.79 which was well above the national average.
