Charity boxes collecting money for an adult special needs learning centre have allegedly been stolen in Dartford.

On Wednesday, October 11 police responded to an alarm at the Harvester in Dartford Road.

Charity boxes collecting money for the New Yorkers Club were stolen.

The club organises trips and social events for people who have special needs.

Posting on Facebook, one person who collects for the New Yorkers Club said: "We had a charity box on the bar at the Harvester on Dartford Road. Some scumbag broke into the Harvester last Tuesday early hours and stole this one and one for a children's charity as well, and nothing else."

A spokeswoman for Kent Police said officers had attended the break in.

She said: "It was reported that a number of charity boxes were missing from the premise. Anyone with information can call the appeal line on 01474 366149 quoting reference 11-0105, or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

The New Yorkers Club runs on donations.
