Foster children across Bromley are in need of a loving home, and it could be you they are looking for.

But have you ever wondered if you are even eligible to be a foster carer?

Bromley’s foster carers come from all walks of life – just like the children and young people they care for.

It doesn’t matter your gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background, age, religious beliefs, disability or marital status.

What matters most is that foster carers can offer a child or young person support, care and love.

Bromley Council is committed to providing all the training you need, as well as financial and professional support so that you in turn can provide your foster child with all the support they need.

Of course, there are some requirements:

You don’t need to have any formal qualifications – but you should have some experience of having children around you. You will also expect you to be committed to the training the council offers.

You can apply to foster for Bromley if:

1 - You are over 21

2 - You have a spare bedroom available for use by a foster child

3 - You have no serious criminal convictions (including sexual offences, violent offences and/or cruelty to either adults or children)

You will also need a positive attitude, patience, adaptability and resilience; the ability to work as a team alongside social workers, teachers and health professionals; a willingness to attend training; a safe home within an hour of the London Borough of Bromley for short term fostering; a smoke-free environment, even if you are a smoker.
