Police are warning Sidcup residents about cold callers after a woman was fleeced out of her pension money on her doorstep.

On Tuesday, September 12 a man knocked on a victim's door in Langford Place offering to repair roof tiles.

When the victim said no, the man said he had already carried out the work, according to Sidcup police.

The pensioner then handed over £250 to the man, two weeks of her pension money.

Police said he then distracted her before leaving.

The man is described as being a big-built white man aged in his 50s with light blond hair and an Irish accent.

He was wearing a yellow high-vis jacket.

A spokesman for Sidcup police tweeted: "Please look out for your neighbours and remind them not to engage with cold callers. Please get descriptions and registrations and call police."
