The prayers of a Bromley food bank were answered when a church stepped in to help meet the needs of struggling families over the summer holidays.

Bromley Methodist Church on College Road opened its doors every Wednesday between 11.30am and 2.00pm and invited families to the Holiday Club Lunch for a hot meal.

Staff from Bromley Borough Foodbank had literally been praying for help from a church over the last two years.

Chrissy Tinson, Church Steward, said: “It has been such a joy to see the families have such a good time, the noise has been terrific! Firm friendships been made.

“We were uncertain if we would have enough money to run the club or if we would have enough volunteers but our prayers have been answered on all counts. We hope to do it all again.”

Over the six-week period, the church served up to 60 two-course hot meals each week with the help of 15 to 20 volunteers each time.
