A spate of break-ins in Hextable that have included a Mini Cooper being stolen has sparked a police warning for residents.

Kent Police are investigating several reports of break-ins between August 8 and September 12, in areas including Claremont Road and Top Dartford Road.

Thieves allegedly stole designer watches and jewellery.

On one occasion a Mini Cooper was stolen from outside a property in New Road along with keys belonging to other vehicles owned by the victim.

The vehicle was recovered in Sevenoaks.

Sergeant Pete Ballard said: "We are continuing to investigate a number of recent offences in the Hextable area and are also reminding residents of the steps to take to reduce their chances of becoming a victim of crime.

"It only takes seconds for a burglar to strike but by making it more difficult for them to get in they are far less likely to hang around and risk getting caught. Check all your doors and windows are closed and that you have working security lights and never leave car keys or valuables on display.

"It is also a good idea to make a home appear occupied if you are out and using timers for interior lights or to turn on a radio is a good way of doing this."
