A new primary academy opened its doors in Beckenham this month after replacing Bromley Road Primary School.

Harris Primary Academy Beckenham Green, in St George’s Road, is part of the five other academies under the organisation’s remit in Bromley which include Kent House, Crystal Palace, Shortlands and Orpington.

Sabeena Hasan, director of primary education at Harris Federation, said: “We are delighted to welcome parents and children back to start the new term as Harris Primary Academy Beckenham.

"Our academy will offer an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment.

“The Harris Federation has a strong track record in supporting schools and we are confident that, with the additional support and resources gained from being part of our family of academies, we can deliver an exceptional education for local families and rapidly accelerate the school’s journey towards becoming ‘outstanding’.”

Stuart Dixon, chair of governors, said: “After considering the future strategy for the school for some time, we were keen to improve our performance to ‘outstanding’ in order to offer the highest standard of education for local children, now and in the future.

“By joining the Harris Federation, our school will benefit from additional, experienced support when needed and still retain the distinctive village school character that makes it such a special place to learn.”

Harris Primary Academy Beckenham Green will offer 30 places each year in reception.
