A little boy has won third prize in the adult section of the Hayes Horticultural Society’s autumn show.
Alex Payne, 11, of Hawthorndene Road, Hayes, grew a bumper crop of vegetables in his grandmother’s allotments in Constance Crescent, Hayes.
The 11-year-old’s efforts went down well at the Autumn show which took place on Saturday, September 3 in Hayes Village Hall on Hayes Street.
Alex was helped by his friend Sam Stealey, of Longdon Wood, Keston Park, whom he met at Keston Primary School, plus a few other young ‘volunteers.’
Now Alex is encouraging his firends at school to give gardening a go.
