Bikers filmed doing wheelies, driving through red lights and mounting the pavement in Erith are being investigated by the police.

Footage has surfaced online showing a pair of riding motorbikes at speed through Northend Road and Thames Road.

The pair pull wheelies, with one doing so on the pavement. They also ride through a red light and swing between lanes.

The footage has been shared hundreds of times online, with social media users blasting the riders' dangerous behaviour.

One commenter said: "No excuse for that on the roads or paths, not only risking their own lives but also the lives of other drivers and even pedestrians."

Councillor Stefano Borella, ward councillor for Northend Ward, said on Twitter: "These are just idiots risking others and themselves, hope they get caught soon."

Police in Northend and Belvedere confirmed they are investigating the footage.

A spokesman for Belvedere police said to someone who praised the riders' skill: "It's not about skill, it's the risk they pose to themselves and other road users. There's no place for this behaviour on public roads."

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them via Twitter @MPS Belvedere or @MPSNorthEndRy.
