The woman's mother spoke to News Shopper. She said: "I cannot thank this family enough.

"This woman and her sons heard screams, she sent them out to check.

"They found my daughter in a very disoriented state and covered in blood, they took her in and it was they that called the police and ambulance.

"When we got to the hospital I could have cried, she was not recognisable.

"Her hair was matted, because she had several contusions on top of her head. That had to be superglued closed.

"She had a cut above her right eyebrow. A gash across the right side of the brow of her nose that was difficult to stitch but was closed with Steristrips, a bump the size of an egg to the right temple, her eyes were black and swollen that she could not see out of them, her left cheek and jaw was swollen and painful and grazed, her nose was swollen, she could not breath out of it.

"Her lip was split, a plastic surgeon put two stitches in. She had smaller cuts and grazes to her arms, left arm had finger mark bruises, knees were grazed, and her left calf had the bruise mark of a shoe, and grazes to her left foot.

"I hope this description paints a picture for you, because in real life I was horrified.

"We just want people to be wary walking that way, it's not long before the nights will be drawing in."
