Two men have been arrested following the stabbing of a teenager in Woolwich that has left him in a serious condition in hospital.

Police have arrested detectives arrested a 21-year-old man and a 33-year-old man yesterday (Wednesday, August 23) on suspicion of attempted murder.

They were both taken to a south London police station where they remain in custody.

At 9.15pm on Tuesday, August 15, officers and the London Ambulance Service were called to an area behind Sovereign House on Maud Cashmore Way.

A 15-year-old boy was found with a stab wound.

He was taken to a central London hospital with life-threatening injuries; he remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is believed two black males were involved in the assault.

A Volkswagen Golf was seen leaving the location shortly afterwards and police would like to trace this car and its occupants.

Detective Constable Andrew Payne, said: "A 15-year-old boy has been terribly injured in this attack. I am appealing for anyone who was in the area or saw anything suspicious; either before or after the assault, to contact police urgently.

"We need the community to assist us; if you have any information that would help please do not hesitate to contact us. Your information could be vital and will be treated in the strictest confidence."
