Lewisham parks are among the best in the world as fifteen green spaces have been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme.

Bellingham Green, Blackheath, Brookmill Park, Chinbrook Meadows, Cornmill Gardens, Deptford Park, Hilly Fields, Ladywell Fields, Manor Park, Manor House Gardens, Mayow Park, Mountsfield Park, Northbrook Park, Sydenham Wells & Telegraph Hill are among a record-breaking 1,797 UK parks and green spaces that have received a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.

The international award is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.

Darren Budden, general manager at Glendale Lewisham said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive Green Flag Awards for the 15th year.

“We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and these awards celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining Lewisham Borough parks to such a high standard.

“A large part of the success is also due to the time and dedication of the park's volunteers and community involvement”
