Catford is set to get its very own gin festival this Autumn.

The Catford Gin Festival will take place on October 7 and 8.

Forrest Hill Gin Club is putting on the event with local group, Team Catford.

Brands confirmed for the event include Fever Tree, Mean London Dry Gin, Graveney Gin and Colonsay Gin.

Forest Hill Gin Club was started over a year ago by Simon Higgs to bring a greater variety of gins to SE23.

The club has as many as 70 gin brands that it sells to customers.

It also puts on talks by distillers from around the globe and hosts cocktail nights and themed occasions.

Charlotte Rose, who has taken on running the club, is keen to promote gin in Lewisham. She said: "The range of gin available these days is fantastic.

“From incredible smooth London Drys, to complex award-winning spirits like Pothecary, and gins, like the coconut heavy Hoxton or summer fruity Brockmans, that some purest gin snobs turn their noses up at, but others find delightful."

The gin festival will be a chance for the Forest Hill Gin Club to bring the huge variety of gins to a Lewisham audience.

Mr Higgs said: "The problem is that many pubs have yet to cotton on to the gin revolution and some of the best gin is failing to find people who would love it."

More information on the festival will be released next week.
