Police are searching for a mysterious woman dressed all in white who removed a woman’s necklace while she was still wearing it and replaced it with another one.

The incident occurred outside Poundland on Eltham High Street at 4.15pm on June 7 where Mrs Mothersole was approached by woman in white and started up a conversation.

Mrs Mothersole walked to her car parked by the town hall and started putting her shopping inside, when the switcheroo happened.

While she was putting her shopping into her car, the suspect reached around and removed Mrs Mothersole’s necklace and pendant and replaced it with another very quickly.

The whole incident happened so quickly that when the victim turned around to challenge the suspect, she had quickly walked away.

When her husband George had turned around to see what happened, he had a cheap ring thrust towards him saying something along the lines of “and this is for you” before the suspect left.

The suspect is described as white female south European looking, wearing all white clothing, shoulder length brown hair.

PC Phillip Cresswell-Nash said: “I am after any witness to the offence or anybody who could confirm her direction of travel on that afternoon.”

If anyone has information they can contact PC Cresswell-Nash on 0208 284 9421.
