A royal has visited a bowls club in Belvedere to look at award-winning gardens.

His Royal Highness The Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex, visited Belvedere Social Bowls Club with the Mayor of Bexley to look at their gardens.

Prince Edward, Patron of the London Gardens visited with Society and Trustees and committee members of the Society, along with the master of the worshipful company of gardeners on Tuesday July 11.

Pat Harris and Coral Etherton, the two members of the Green Team primarily responsible for designing and maintaining the award-winning garden areas, said they were thrilled with the visit and found Prince Edward "easy company".

Ailsa Hughes, the Bowls Club Secretary, said the visit was particularly timely, taking place in the 40th anniversary year of the Club, which was highlighted in the garden design.
