A 19th-minute goal from Barnet striker John Akinde was enough for Millwall to lose 1-0 in a pre-season friendly at The Hive on Saturday.

Millwall struggled to get going in the first half and rarely challenged the Barnet defence at times.

But as the game wore on, the Lions began to look dangerous with several chances coming from strong build-up play through Shane Ferguson and Steve Morison.

However, it was not enough as Barnet stood tall to withstand their push for the equaliser.

Here is how News Shopper rated Millwall’s players…

Jordan Archer - 6 - Dealt with Barnet attacks well when needed but was beaten in the end by a cool finish from Akinde.

Conor McLaughlin - 4 - Looked uncomfortable against Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro most of the game before being replaced, gave Barnet an easy outlet to threaten.

Byron Webster - 9 - A calming presence at the back as usual and delivered when under pressure, a key performer. Man of the match.

Shaun Hutchinson - 4 - Got himself into trouble a couple times with being a little over-eager and fortunate to not have had errors punished.

James Meredith - 7 - Was one half of Millwall’s best threat going forward with Ferguson down the left side, productive on both ends.

David Worrall - 5 - Had opportunities on goal but did not reliably deliver service into the attack when needed.

Calum Butcher - 6 - Both him and Williams looked overawed by Barnet’s midfield in the first half but began to settle when chances came.

Shaun Williams - 6 - Provided some crucial passes into the attack when venturing forward.

Shane Ferguson - 8 - An energetic presence down the left flank and arguably Millwall’s best threat going forward.

Lee Gregory - 6 - Did not see much of the ball and was unfortunate when his chances were almost always blocked by Barnet’s defence.

Steve Morison - 8 - His hold-up play allowed Millwall to find avenues for an equaliser, but was frustrated time and again like Gregory.
