Roads in the new Ebbsfleet Valley development are set to be named after fallen war heroes, if Dartford Council approve new proposals.
Thirty road names have already been allocated at the development but a report going to cabinet claims that there is little history left on the sites themselves.
The proposals are for 16 new roads in Ebbsfleet’s Garden City to be named after Croucher, Danzey, Day, Embleton, Eyres, Farmer, Freeman, Giles, Hoadley, Humble, Mason, Outred, Ovens, Raven, Simmons and Tickner.
These names follow a theme of local servicemen who died during the First World War.
The report reads: “This theme ties in with the upcoming centenary of the end of the conflict as well as keeping local links to the area.
“These particular names were all from the same regiment and are listed on memorials within the wards the developments fall under.”
Councillors Allen, Coleman, Kelly and leader of the council Jeremy Kite all support the plans by a consultation will be submitted to cabinet, ward members as well as the emergency services and Royal Mail.
