A Victorian property next to Kent House railway station is on the market.

The building, also called Kent House, is believed to have been built in 1887 and was most recently used by a financial services business.

After the advert was posted by Acorn Commercial, Beckenham residents took to social media to discuss how they would like to see the property in Station Approach developed.

Commenters were in support of the property becoming a cafe, restaurant or wine bar, to make the most of footfall from the station next door.

However the building is currently approved for A2 use, which allows it to be used for "financial services such as banks and building societies, professional services other than health and medical services and including estate and employment agencies", so the new owners would have to apply for planning permission.

The advert said: "Believed to have been built in 1887, this detached property was most recently used by a financial services business and is therefore believed to have A2 use.

"Measuring approximately 800 sqft over two floors, the property, which requires complete internal refurbishment, comprises a kitchen, W/C, a large storage cupboard and three large rooms.

"The property also benefits from gas central heating, a security alarm system and has off-street parking.

"Whilst the surrounding properties are mostly residential, the property benefits from significant footfall from commuters using the station and can be seen from passing trains; offering an opportunity for prominent advertising. Likely to be suitable for a range of occupants including professional services and medical practitioners."

Kent House advertised for sale for offers in excess of £300,000.
