A man has reportedly been stabbed in the leg while trying to help a bus driver escort a passenger with no Oyster card off a bus in Plumstead.

The 54-year-old victim was travelling on a Route 99 bus on Plumstead High Street around 9pm on July 12.

The driver stopped at the junction with Rockmount Road by St Nicholas Gardens where the man tried to get on the bus.

When the suspect was refused entry because he didn’t have an Oyster card, the victim tried to help the driver in asking the suspect to leave the bus.

An argument broke out in which the 54-year-old was reportedly stabbed in his left thigh and the suspect ran off towards Rockmount Road.

The man was taken to a south London hospital where he had deep lacerations to his left inner thigh.

The suspect is described as a black man, aged between 18 and 22 years old. He was wearing a black baseball cap with a capital 'A' on the front, a khaki hooded top with Airmax written across his chest, blue jeans and black trainers/plimsolls with white soles and white laces.

Officers have released CCTV images of a man they would like to talk to and ask anyone who recognises him, or has any information about the incident, to contact Sgt Ian Mitchell on 07500 607652.
