Stay tuned for when Bromley girl Gina Li Donni competes on The Voice Kids this weekend.

The 13-year-old from Bishop Justus School made it through to the next stage after impressing judge Will.i.am, despite never having had singing lessons before.

She now joins Team Will.i.am, a group of three contestants, in The Battles on Sunday (July 9) where only one will go through to the semi-finals on July 15.

The winner of the series will receive £30,000 and a trip to Disnleyland Paris for all the family.

Mum Joanne said Gina was ‘completely overwhelmed’ when the Black Eyed Peas singer turned his seat around, with looks of shock on her siblings’ faces.

“I am absolutely so proud of her,” she said. “She got through 15,000 applicants from all over England, Scotland and Ireland to be chosen to go through to the auditions.

“She is just super excited that she is on Team Will.i.am.”

Talking about her personality and life off the stage, Gina is described as a ‘kind-hearted’ and ‘sweet-natured’ girl.

“She goes to school with her plaits in and her glasses on, everyone loves her and she is just a lovely girl,” Joanne said.

When asked about her ambitions for the rest of the competition, the mother-of-three said: “Gina is taking it one stage at a time, but ultimately she would love to win.

“Whatever she does, I am so proud of her anyway because of the person that she is.”

You can watch Gina on The Voice Kids this Sunday from 7.30pm on ITV.
