A new donation point for a foodbank in Beckenham has opened at a church in Ravenscroft Road.

St Michael and All Angels Church have opened a new donation point for Bromley Foodbank.

The foodbank, which is part of the Trussell Trust Foodbank, opened in 2010 and in the last year has supplied 4,471 three day emergency supplies for local people.

Almost half of those supplies were given to children.

Jackie Barter, Foodbank Manager, said: “Anyone can be hit crisis and find themselves in need of a foodbank – it only takes something unexpected, like illness, redundancy or the boiler breaking, for a family on a low income to be unable to afford food.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received locally so far – the foodbank really is run by the community for the community. We’d love to hear from anyone who is interested in getting involved to help stop hunger in Bromley borough area – your skills could be just what we need!”

The donation point opened on Tuesday, June 27.

Anyone interested in volunteering at, or donating to, the foodbank can find more information at here.
