Six young budding journalists from a Greenwich school won an award for their self-published magazine.
The children from St Matthew Academy entered the 7th National Shine School Awards which asks young people across the country to create a school Newspaper or Magaizine.
Let by Mr Simpson and Mr Cameron from St Matthew Academy, the winners from the school won the Harrison Cup and £1,000.
A spokesperson from Shine School Media Awards said: “We love it when a school enters Shine for the first time and shows us a publication full of raw energy, compulsive enthusiasm and grit. This is the case with St Matthew Academy’s ‘Optics’.
“Every year Shine gives the Harrison Cup to a school that has done something wonderful, that we feel drawn to recognise – but perhaps hasn’t won another award.
“Optics is the perfect example of such an entry – and we can’t wait to find out what St Matthew Academy comes up with next year.”
